I would not attempt it. The hole in the bottom is to keep moisture from gathering. The whole is larger so that spiders and other small bugs don't try making a home. This is a plug holder for an electric car. If you do not know what you are doing... well, there are no warranties... you get it: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am very happy with how it turned out and has been working well for the past week.
