Window Regulator Roller – 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ
3D-printed replacement window regulator roller made for the 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ: a simple way to replace a cracked, lost or hard-to-find original part.
About this part
Jeep vehicles with the scissors type window regulator have three pins with ball ends that have plastic rollers over the ball. These plastic rollers run in channels that raise and lower the window. Over time they break and the window drops into the door. In years past I've used shower door rollers to repair the regulator but with a 3D printer it's easier to print replacement rollers and leave the steel pins intact.
3 are required for a full repair. If you're like me, just go ahead and print 6 or 8 because you'll ruin a few or drop a couple and lose them.
I would recommend that you print these in something stronger than PLA, I used ABS but PETG or nylon would work too. Print flat side down against the print bed.
There are a couple of ways you can install them, either put them into the channel, heat the roller with a hair dryer or heat gun on low, then press the pin into them. You can also heat them first, press them onto the pin then put the assembly into the channels.
